Ok, so you\u2019ve looked at your Coursework questions\u2026what next?<\/p>\n

First<\/b> thing is to try and get your head around the main report question. \u00a0You need to consider how to draft a business report aimed at the MD of a company that has almost no employee benefits and wants to introduce an Auto-Enrolment pension, plus other potential benefits. \u00a0Think about what do you want<\/i> to know about, and also what do they need<\/i> to know about? \u00a0The question is very helpful here as it lists several points of required information for you.<\/p>\n

Second<\/b>, think about the structure of the report. \u00a0Based on my experience, a lot of candidates struggle here. \u00a0The Executive Summary has thrown some people. \u00a0You can search online for a simple\u00a0\u201chow to\u201d on this.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a link I found to a really helpful detailed explanation of what a good executive summary should look like<\/a>. \u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Then think about having a report title, some chapters (with chapter headings!), and work out what each chapter will cover. \u00a0Tidy up at the end with a neat summary.<\/p>\n

Third<\/b> think about references. \u00a0The referencing has been massively simplified by the IFS, and the new approach is a welcome change of direction, as it will help candidates focus on the actual work rather then spend hours trying to format a full academic bibliography. \u00a0But you still need references! \u00a0Best to think about this as you go along\u2026<\/p>\n

Fourth<\/b>, think about technical knowledge. \u00a0What do you know about stakeholder pensions? \u00a0Auto-enrolment? \u00a0Employee Benefits? \u00a0Costs? \u00a0Tax implications for the employer? \u00a0Tax implications for the employee? \u00a0Bound to be some areas you don\u2019t know much about – best get studying!<\/p>\n

Five<\/b>, when going on to the short answer questions, remember they do not need referencing, or long introductions. \u00a0Most short questions in the Coursework can be covered using bullet points or short sentences. \u00a0They are called short questions for a reason!<\/p>\n
